Worker Fainted Aboard An Oil Tanker, Found Covered In Oil

The Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard, Singapore has reported on an incident where a person working on the repairs of a Russian flagged Oil Tanker had fainted during the process.

He was reportedly found covered in thick black oil on his head and body recovered from the bottom of the tank.  The worker was immediately hospitalised and taken under Intensive Care at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

On Saturday around 4pm the Sembcorp Marine’s Health, Safety and Environment team received a call for emergency stating the issue.

The worker was hired by a contractor to do thickness measurement of the tanks in the Oil Tanker.The oil tanker had a thin layer of residual oil  which might have triggered the incident.

The unconscious worker was accompanied by three other workers when it happened, who have been reported of good health.

The shipyard has been extending all its support to the authorities to carry on with their investigations.
